A family vacation property in La Jolla Shores was in need of renovation and expansion, and conversion to year-round living.  Spaces that are fine for short-term use felt cramped and did not open up to the outdoors and the wonderful beach experience.  The new use of this property was studied, with an eye toward the various family members that live in the Southern California region and felt a family connection to the property, and the owners wanted all to feel welcome.  Following studies of ways to revitalize the property, it was found that the best solution was to completely rebuild the property, using many of the same design elements and saved parts of the original beach house.  The result is a home that carries forward the windows, doors, and cabinets that are remembered in the previous generation, and the new and exciting spaces that are suited for modern living.
