This 3,000 square-foot addition provides for business offices, library, shop, and cold storage of fruits at a working grove. This building is uniquely sited to attach to an existing adobe house. By using straw bale construction, the new wing provides a similar feel to the adobe, while the thickness of the walls provides excellent thermal and sound insulation. Architectural and manufacturing components that had been collected by the Owner were incorporated into the design for reuse in the working building. ABA provided in-house architectural and engineering services for the strawbale construction.
