In a beach-loving part of La Jolla, this duplex provides a quiet and tranquil setting for fun under the sun. Taking care to relate to the well-established neighborhood context, the design uses traditional elements in the porch entry, window proportions, and the scale and massing of the projecting rooms. The internal fun begins with dramatic interior stairs, high ceilings in the living rooms, balconies for upper level rooms, and a private roof deck with views to the ocean. The project encompasses two generous units on one lot, each with its own private garden and individual parking and garage areas.
